"Abstract of Demonetization"


Demonetization is a process in which the Government with draws legal tender status of currency issued by it. In other ways we can say that Demonetization of currency means discontinuity of the said currency from circulation and replacing it with a new currency.
So Demonetization is a process in which Government bans the notes or coins of a certain demonetization. In india first demonetization was held on 12th January 1946 , 2nd was on 26 th January 1978. The Honorable prime minister Shri Narendra Modi announced 3rd demonetization in India on 8th November 2016 where Rs.500/- and Rs. 1000/- were with drawn from circulation with a objective to reduce corruption and black money and fake currency. The present study attempts to understand the scope and reasons of demonetization. history of demonetization in the world and India and its impact on various sector of economy.
The study is descriptive nature and uses secondary data taken from various sources like the Reserve Bank of India, Ministry of finance and other sources. The study concludes that demonetization had both positive and nagative impacts.
